Bees in the BBQ

We have some family coming in for the upcoming holidays, so I asked Nathan to get the BBQ ready because we haven't used it in a while. We have recently noticed a few bee's coming from under the cover so Nathan thought it would be best to kill them.

Here is the BBQ in question (for those of you who haven't seen it)

Nathan went to Home Depot and the man at the store warned Nathan the "bomb" he was purchasing was not for bees. If you know Nathan, you know he didn't let that stop him. He was convinced that suffocating and smoking the bees out was the best option.

Below is the "weapon" he constructed.

He thought he was pretty smart (almost genius) designing it to be easily maneuverable under what we call, "the cover of darkness".

We decided it was best for him to put his plan into action when no one else was home, but I wanted to make sure we were close in case something happened.

As I was picking Bubba up at school I heard an incredible sound. Please keep in mind Bubba's school is over a mile from the house, so I didn't even think it could be coming from the house.

I returned home shortly after to Nathan "hiding" in the house. He explained that he ignited the bomb, heard the bees moving around, and was waiting for our arrival to check out the BBQ.

The bomb accomplished exactly what Nathan wanted, and the death toll was astronomical. There was a pile of bees measuring over 2" in depth.

Nathan went to lite the BBQ to start the cleaning and noticed some fattly looking substance on the top of the side shelf. He called me out to investigate....

We removed the rest of the cover only to find the headquarters.......

On another note, BEWARE, we think the queen flew away. Either that or one of Bubba's friends grew wings and has been living in the hive because that thing was huge!!!

Just a few words.

It is funny to me how someone so far can be so close.
How someone can effect your heart so strong. How things sometimes just don't make since.

....God works in ways we will just never understand. Just truly amazing !

Engineering of an 8 year old

As most of you all ready know my 28 year old travels for a living. He is the regional sales manager for the leading snow plow manufacturer.

This company truly understands that in order to remain a leader in the industry, new product innovation must remain a central focus. They continually pushes the snow and ice control industry forward with new products that customers demand; products that focus on efficiency, productivity, and reliability.

Hummm I must have heard this once or twice befor....

It got me thinking about how lucky were are to have a company the works so hard to be a leader not only in they industry but they work hard to make family the central focus as well. It dawned on me the other day how they do the business and family thing so well. When my 28 year old and 8 year old were in the garage all day watching football, drinking(root)beer and eating pretzels and the rhythmic sounds of power tools filled the air that this could only mean one thing...

Engineering
Just what could it be this time?

The last time this happened my parents received a beautiful bird house that had a roof with Oh let's just say it had a few to many sky lights.

When I peeked out the door I could not believe what I was looking at .

Our 8 year old sanding...

Sheer strapping two boards together...

Attaching allot of wheels just in the right place...
(Notice the big yellow thing in the back ground)

Then you would not believe what was next .....

They put and 850 lbs snow plow on this T frame rack that and 8 year old engineered with my 28 year old. They had a couple of minor details to work out, but it worked. We can roll this the plow out of the way and we can roll in right under the truck when it is time to go to work.

I tell ya what a great way for this company remain a leader in the industry, with new innovation engineered by and 8 year old and family truly has remained a central focus on the project.

I just hope it holds together longer then the bird house.

History

It's cool isn't it, that we are making history. Both parties are a historical first.

It's really exciting, it’s been a long haul and I am anxious for it to be over with.

Join me in our very first cyber rally.
Join me and sing or National Song.

Oh, say can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming
Whose broad stripes and bright stars,
through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched,
were so gallantly streaming
And the rockets red glare,
the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night,
That our flag was still there,

Oh say, does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave,
O'er the land of the free
and the home of the brave.

Happy Halloween

I always loved this song when I was a kid.
Today I had was a kid with my eight year old,we sang this song
on our car ride to school.

Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate.
First one said, "Oh my, it's getting late."
Second one said, "There are witches in the air."
Third one said, "Oh, we don't care."
Fourth one said, "Let's run and run and run."
Fifth one said, "It's Halloween fun."

WOOOOOO! went the wind.
And out went the light!

The five little pumpkins rolled out of sight.

Have a happy and safe Halloween.

Common Since ?

On October 8Th our 15 year old was asked to go to the 2008 Homecoming dance.

When she asked us if she could go, my stomach decided to due a few cartwheels.
I responded with a quick "we will see" answer. This is a standard answer at least in my case. This buys me sometime to think and make sure I cover all the bases that I need to.

Nathan and I talked about it and we decided to surprise our 15 year old with a new dress, jewelery and I hair clip. We told her this was for us to go out for a family dinner on the 18Th. OK OK this is how we do things in the family(Nathan thinks it is so funny) she new it was her's to attend the dance.

We asked to me meet her dates parents. Not to mention I offered to drive them to the dance. Now for those who know me, this is completely out of my character.

Thew this whole process, I found out that things are just not as traditional as they used to be(I don't like that much). We found ourselves in the position of explaining to our 15 year old how a gentlemen should treat their date. She honestly thought we were crazy. Maybe we are....I just could not get it out of my head how she would not know this. To me, something like this I thought was common since. We will get back to this later.

So on October 18Th we all piled in the restroom to get ready for her first "BIG GIRL" dance. When I say we all piled in that means, the 28 year old, 8 year old, our dog's Joe and Tubby, the 15 years old and myself. The 28 years old and the 8 year old sat in a chair they haled in and we trying on her jewelery and asking all kinds of questions. I was helping her with her hair. The dogs well they just looked at us and thought we were all nuts(I can't disagree with the dog's that is for sure).
She was finally ready. She looked in the mirror tired up a bit. No words were said but you could tell she felt as beautiful on the inside as she look on the outside.

Now back to the traditional thing. We did not meet the parents, We did meet the date the day be for at the Homecoming football game. I took our beautiful young lady's photograph and took her to the dance. Let her out of the vehicle and she made her way to the front door to buy her ticket. While her date waited for her arrival inside. This just made me fell sad inside, this just was not the full experience that I wanted her to have.

As Nathan said that is OK then we don't have to call this a DATE.... I was OK with that, was she?

Nathan stayed awake to see how things went and this never happens. He is in bed at 8:30 every night. Not that night. I went and picked her up at 10:30. She came out all alone. I felt the funny feeling inside again, but she had a beaming smile on her face and she had a great time!

She got home and told us all about it and thanked us for allowing her to go and she was off to bed. She was happy that is all the mattered.

While we were going thew this process I realised this is not common since.

I only post this for all you wonderful gentleman out their that may read this.
Today I challenge you while you are out an about with your wife, girlfriend, mother, daughter lady friend whatever you call her, open the car door for her or pull out her chair, help her with her coat.

Maybe if we continue to do this this in public places this will help teach our younger generation.

Maybe one day it will be just common since.
